Does a high FSH mean menopause?Updated 2 hours ago
Not necessarily. Menopause is when the ovaries stop releasing estrogen and progesterone and you stop ovulating. Clinically, it's defined as 12 months in a row without a period. The years leading up to it, called perimenopause, often bring irregular cycles and symptoms from shifting hormones.
If two or more of your three results in a cycle are 25 mIU/mL or higher, you may be transitioning into menopause. Results above 50 mIU/mL suggest menopause has already happened or is close. Either way, talk to your doctor for next steps and support.
